Yarn Art Project Blog Post 1, 29th July 2014 - Introduction

Chelsea Heights Primary has been asked to be a part of an exciting community Yarn Art project taking place in October.

To celebrate Children’s Week and Senior’s Week we will be covering our school in yarn art to the theme of The Rainbow Fish from 18th to 26th October, 2014.

So, what is Yarn Art? Sometimes called Yarn Storming  or Urban Knitting, it is a type of temporary street art that employs colourful displays of knitted, woven and crocheted pieces to brighten up the community.

We are planning a fun craft activity for the Art Show on August 29th and need wire coat hangers as soon as possible to prepare them before the night!

We are also in need of vacuum cleaner hoses to create an octopus!!

During our Lunchtime sessions, Level 3-6 students are welcome to help us with  preparation and creating, starting this week.

We are inviting everyone who would like to be a part of making things for our display to let us know how you can help- please ask your mum, dad, siblings, grandparents, aunties, uncles, family, friends and neighbours if they can help...you don't have to be a master crafter!

For more information please see Mr Aldred or email Jane aljane@iprimus.com.au.
